Kenny Killian, (1942) one of our brothers-in arms and Life Member of the VFW, passed away Sep 19, 2015. Ken often spoke about our VFW Post with his family. Ken had a heart attack, Ken was taken to the hospital, and passed away when his kidneys failed. Ken Killian was a US Army Military Policeman, and also in the Criminal Investigative Division (CID), who served in Europe, The Presidio, and in Vietnam. He has a BS in Mechanical Engineering and often spoke in great mechanical detail at the Post 7916 Canteen. During his service in Vietnam, his location was hit by a mortar fire, and he was severely wounded by shrapnel. He spent 16 months in Walter Reed Medical Center recovering. They were not able to remove all of the shrapnel from his legs. While working towards Warrant Officer School, he was later medically retired.
A
Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ken was at Post 7916 almost daily,
in late afternoon. Annually on his
birthdays, and other special occasions, he bought food and refreshment for all
at the Post.
