DAVID WAYNE RALSTON, 56, of Lake Ridge, VA, passed away on 31 March, 2024. A decorated Gulf War veteran, revered police officer, and beloved family man, David lived a life marked by service, courage, and an unwavering commitment to his family, his friends and his country.
Born in South Buffalo New York, on 29 December 1967, to the late David L. Ralston and Frances A. Potfora, David was a person of profound integrity and resilience. He served valiantly in the United States Army for 23 years, where he distinguished himself in the Gulf War and was honored for his bravery and commitment. His military service was a testament to his dedication to his country and its values.
David continued to serve his community and his country after military retirement as an esteemed officer with the Occoquan Police Department, as well as a GS employee of the Department of the Army. His commitment to community safety and justice was unwavering, earning him respect and admiration from nearly everyone he came into contact with.
David was a lifelong learner who also achieved academic success, earning a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice. His thirst for knowledge and understanding of the world was infectious, and he had friends around the world who will sorely miss his wisdom, companionship, and sharp wit.
He was a firm believer that "friends are better than money," a principle he lived by every day, creating lasting bonds and impacting lives wherever he went. David was not just a hero in uniform but a best friend to many, always ready with a helping hand, and few bucks, or a word of encouragement.
David is survived by his loving wife Tanya, his children, David, Kaylee, Matthew, Taylor, his mother Frances and sister Andrea (Gary) Schneider, who will forever cherish his memory and continue his legacy of kindness, bravery, and loyalty.
