Norman "Skibow" Fertsch, age 89, of Stafford, Virginia passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023. 

He is survived by his children, Pamela Fertsch of Stafford, Shirlene Upton and son in law, Daniel Upton of Stafford, and Norman E. Fertsch of Stafford; his 8 grandchildren; his 13 great grandchildren; and his 1 great great grandchild. 

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Knisel. 

Skibow served in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He loved his country and he loved being a U.S Marine! 

In his younger years he enjoyed boating and bowling and was always a talented wood worker, either building something or fixing something. 

Skibow was a member of  American Legion Post 364, DAV, and the Marine Corps League. 

Skibow was an ardent supporter of our Post and significantly contributed to the early success of our Post home in Occoquan.  Skibow also organized and cooked for the annual VFW Post 7916 fourth of July picnic at American Legion Post 364 in Woodbridge.  

In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends having cookouts and gatherings, and he loved watching his grandchildren play sports.
