LtCol Robert Montague Mallard, USMC was borne December 3, 1939.  He passed away on October 15, at the age of 82. Born in Plains, Georgia, not far from President Carter's birth place, Bob was the son of the late William F. Mallard and Mamie Hodge Mallard. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 17 years, Sharon (Sherry) Lea Mallard, his first wife, Carole (Celeste) Dawson, and his brothers George, Walter, and James. Bob is survived by his son, Robert (Matt) Mallard and his son, Ian; Daughter Amanda Mallard and her husband Anthony Garmendia; stepdaughter Tara Ricci and her children Anthony and Claudia.

Bob served in the Marines for 25 years, notably Vietnam, where he received a BSM, an  MSM, and two PHMs, among many other honors. He was a proud member of the Marine Corps Association and enjoyed spending time in our canteen with the usual suspects. Bob was an avid golfer and fitness enthusiast, but his greatest joy was being with his family and friends.

He will be laid to rest with his wife, Sharon at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
