Charles "Charlie” Richard Krear

Sad News. Born August 18, 1930 our esteemed comrade Charles "Charlie” Richard Krear (age 90) of Lorton passed away September 16, 2020 at home. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Delores (Dee) M. Krear.

Charlie was a Life Member of the VFW, and longtime devoted member (55+ years) of VFW Post 7916. As recently as last year it was not at all unusual for him to bring his tools and repair the old canteen barstools before his regular Thursday lunch with his buddies. Generous to a fault, Charlie could always be counted on to help the Post when the chips were down. 

Charlie was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a champion relator in the Lorton-Woodbridge area. His home selling record is over 58 homes in a one-year period. Always full of energy, even in his last days, he shook hands with a vice-like grip. Charlie was a bigger than life character, loved and respected by all. Charlie will be missed!

Charlie was born to Mary and Leo Krear in River Falls, WI. He spent his youth in Wisconsin, then joined the U.S. Army in 1949. Charlie is a 20-year Army veteran serving in the Korean War. He also had many Cold War assignments in Germany and the United States.

Following his military career, Charlie became a real estate Agent and Broker, eventually owning his own company called Career Properties. Charlie was an active member of American Legion Post 162 and Moose Lodge 583, as well as an avid golfer and long-time member at Fort Belvoir Golf Course.

Preceded in death by his parents, Mary I and Leo N Krear, and his son, James (Jim) R Krear.  He is survived by his four brothers Donald J, Leo G Jr., Milton, and Morris Krear. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Delores (Dee) M. Krear, two brothers John Krear of Boise ID, David Krear of Hudson, WI, one sister, Patricia (Pat) Krear Walker of Alexandria, VA, and his sister-in-law, Esther Johnson, of Alexandria, VA. Charlie was also beloved by numerous nieces and nephews: Deanna Ryals, CA, Rita Smith, NC, Teresa (Terri) Stillman, VA, Donna Cole, VA, Michael (Mike) Krear, VA, Matthew Walker, FL, Angela Walker, FL, Jodi Kunitz, KS, Julianne Ingoldsby, MO, Joe Krear, WI, Jason Krear, NC, Karrie Krear, MN, Maria Stella Watson, CA, Brad Krear, TX, Bryan Krear, ID, Debbie Krear, WA, and many grand nieces and nephews.
