Lindy Dietz took a
somewhat unconventional path to the Navy. She began working as a background
actor with Central Casting in 1997 and earned her Screen Actors Guild (SAG)
card in 1999 before trading Hollywood for a career in Navy intelligence.
Lindy
served around the world, with assignments in South Korea, Japan, Hawaii,
California, and Florida, working in imagery, geospatial, cyber, and all-source
intelligence. Throughout her Navy career, she held leadership and supervisory
positions supporting major commands, including Commander Seventh Fleet and Navy
Cyber Unit 5. She completed her Navy career as an Intelligence Specialist Petty
Officer First Class with Surface Warfare and Aviation Warfare qualifications,
IS1 (SW/AW), and later continued supporting the military and Intelligence
Community as a defense contractor.
In
April 2017, Lindy was recruited into VFW Post 7916 during an Occoquan community
event—and apparently took the "service” part of membership seriously. She has
since served as Post Service Officer and Post Adjutant and currently serves as
Senior Vice Commander, becoming the first woman in Post 7916’s history to hold
the position.
Lindy
is especially proud to advocate for fellow veterans, support her Post, and
continue serving the Occoquan community she calls home.
